Language on the Go and the Ipod Revolution With the event of the Ipod, seems the world is a buzz. But what benefit is it to you? Well if you are the type who likes more than playing music, it means a lot. The Ipod as well as other MP3 players can be used as a portable classroom. By uploading educational files that are in MP3 format you can listen to your courses at anytime and place you want. You can even create long playing sleep learning cd's to play while you sleep. The Ipod is evolving into a universal media device slowly but surely and time will tell what it will eventually be capable of. MP3 is just a file format like CDA is a format for the regular type CD's you may buy music on. The difference is the coding and the player must be capable of reading MP3 coding. There are other alternatives for playing your MP3 language learning files though. Look for the MP3 logo on a device before you buy it. This will insure you can play any of the MP3 files you may download in the future. Mp3 is a must have nowadays and you will regret it later if you do not insure you have the capability on whatever you buy. With the advent of MP3, which allows quality to be retained at a much smaller file size, learning languages has never been easier. No longer are you stuck to computers, boom boxes or classrooms for your learning experience. A simple download and you are ready for class. Using an Ipod or other portable MP3 device, travelers as well as business people have the ability to study languages on the go. I highly recommend you try this new venue for learning. Ebay and the Language Explosion If you have never been on Ebay, then you are missing out. Ebay has become one the premier resale outlets for Foreign Language products. In the last 6 months, language programs available have almost doubled. This may in part to an ever increasing number of people wanting to be able to communicate in an ever increasing global environment. By not having to ship a product such as a Tagalog language learning course to a retailer; you can buy at a much greatly reduced rate. Same product, almost 1/2 the cost of your neighborhood retail outlet. Things to watch for when buying through Ebay are low price but the shipping and handling has been raised to make up the difference. Example: You find 3 identical Tagalog Language products you are interested in to purchase through Ebay. One is marked $15.95, another $16.95 and the 3rd for $16.95 also. Now the $15.95 price seems the best. But this may not be so. Read what the postage and shipping and handling charges are first. In the example above let's assume the $15.95 Tagalog Language course charges $7.00 for shipping and handling. That means you are actually paying $23.95 for the product. Let’s say the 2nd product listed for $16.95 and only charges $4.50 for shipping and handling. That means you actually are paying $21.45 for the product. So the actual initial cost of the product really does not mean much till you add up all the costs associated with the purchase. Now let's assume the 3rd item is the same as the 2nd item $16.95 plus $4.50 shipping and handling. A draw right. The next thing to do in the process of elimination is to view the seller’s feedback on Ebay. You may find that one of the 2 sellers may have had problems recently in delivering the product or other concerns. Length of time on Ebay is not always a good factor. There are power sellers that sell Language products and try to outweigh there negative feedback by numbers. If you have any questions about the product, email the seller before purchasing or bidding. After you have bought or won a bid is not the time to see if the language product is what you expect it to be. Ebay now has the ability to purchase digital media. What this means to you is, no shipping costs, instant download of your product once paid for. That means you can start learning a language in less than an hour. So if you have never searched Ebay for that Language product you always wish you had taken the time to learn. You may just want to take a few minutes and do so. Searching auctions is the default when you enter Ebay. You can also search stores which are listed on Ebay. Stores will also have partial listings at the bottom of the auction page when you are viewing what is in auctions. Happy shopping and hope to see you on the net. |

Future of Downloadable Education Remember the days of checking out books at the library. Though libraries are a wealth of information if you have the time to drive to your local library, you are very fortunate. Now days with so many projects going on at the same time, most are hard pressed to find the time. The "I want it now" generation is exploding on the internet. With the ability to research thousands of sources of information right from home. It has become almost a chore to get out of your chair and drive to the library. For those of us who grew up searching the library, we learned some good techniques of research. The first thing we learned was association of possible topics and subjects. They now call those Keywords on the internet. Example: Say you are looking for waterfalls as a subject. Now you would normally just look under waterfalls. That would give you a wealth of information. Yet to increase your possible knowledge base, you could also expand your search to components of your major subject and find more in depth information. Example: Water features, making a waterfall, fake rock, ponds, Koi fish etc. Now though some are not directly related to specifically just waterfalls. Many times by reviewing these other subjects, you find other research terms in them that you have not thought of. It also completes the picture of your initial subject matter, giving you a better knowledge of all the possible scenarios and possible components affecting waterfalls. In today’s age it is easy to just take information at face value without research since we tend to feel we have no time in our busy schedule to investigate something in depth. If it is important to you, do a complete research on the subject matter. Get a full picture of everything that can affect your researched item. Education has substantially moved to the internet. Online courses, downloadable products and free information resources. Yes the kids still go to school, but where do most do there homework and research? The Internet! Now instead of spending hours at a local library after you drive them there and have to pick them up later, they can access 1000's of articles and reference material on the subject matter in minutes. There is also a new twist to this form of education we did not have in the local library. They have contact with 1000's of other people on the subject matter at the same time, where we had contact with 1 or 2 librarians. This can be good and this can be dangerous as well. The good part is that you can ask several individuals on the internet a question and get several answers and compile them into a combined idea picture in minutes or hours. The bad part may very well that there is no one to validate the information you may getting since the internet is basically an open hole where anyone can throw anything in. So you need to get many resources off the internet to insure consistency and accuracy of the information being provided. It is not the information on the internet that is a problem, it is the individual who has not learned how to research properly and discard the erroneous information that clogs the internet arteries. Downloadable courses are bursting all over the internet. From Language, DIY (do it yourself), computer learning and just about every subject you can imagine. You buy it on the internet and in an hour you have your course and can begin your study or project. Not only that, many courses also provide portability. Example: A program may be able to be learned on the computer at home and also provide MP3 files so you can play in an Ipod or MP3 player. So now you can learn at work during a lunch break. So the importance of downloadable Education has come of age. The only drawback between a Library and the internet is, I miss just walking down the isles of books and seeing something interesting and start reading it. Generally on the internet you start in a direction and follow that path to the end. In the library you have the opportunity to just let something grab your attention and follow it from there. So occasionally I encourage you to visit your local library. If you have not been in one for awhile, trust me, you will really enjoy the experience. It also helps hone your research techniques. |

Ciphering the Tagalog Language Learning the Tagalog Language is essential if you plan to communicate in the Philippines. Tagalog is sometimes also called Filipino or the Pilipino Language. So as not to get confused, let me explain the difference between the terminologies. Tagalog is the national language of the Philippines. It is spoken by about 23% of the population. The remaining spoken languages, the remaining 77%, is divided among approximately 175 other dialects. Tagalog, being the Official National Language of the Philippines, is considered as the base language. If you look at the other dialects, you will see numerous Tagalog and Tagalog derivatives in them. And most who do speak these other dialects, understand some Tagalog. That being said, you may wonder what Filipino or Pilipino is. This is a combination of both Tagalog and other dialects and languages. Filipino or sometimes Pilipino (its older name) is an amalgamation of all the Philippines languages, English and Spanish combined together. Since English as well as Tagalog is taught in the schools in the Philippines, many people tend to speak Tagalog with English words mixed in the sentence. At that point they are talking Filipino. |
